Victor Creed, sometimes called Sabretooth, was a hard man to find. That was especially noteworthy because the man was nearly seven feet tall and had fangs and claws. It had taken Mystique a couple weeks to track him down, and that had led her to a brothel in a rather distasteful neighborhood.

Still, as much as Mystique appreciated the finer things in life, she'd lived enough lives over the centuries that she could walk through the neighborhood with minimal aversion. It also helped that she could walk about as either gender and pick what her physique was like. She had done most of her reconnaissance as a muscular black man. Acquiring the speech pattern for such a role was easy enough- she could change accents and dialects as easily as most people changed clothes.

Much safer than my usual form. Even yellow eyes and blue skin may not be enough to deter some predators here- some men really do just see a pair of boobs. And they equate the female form with weakness. It's not worth the time it would fix to educate such degenerates, and for many the lesson wouldn't stick, she thought with disgust.

Right now, though, within the confines of the brothel that Victor frequented, she took the form of one of the working girls. The girl was drugged up in her hovel of an apartment, so there was no way for her to spoil the masquerade. Mystique just hoped Victor was the next john through the door- she had no intention of performing as a prostitute, and it could cause problems for her if she had to kill a "client" to make that message clear.

As soon as the tall, homicidal mutant walked through the door, she sauntered toward him, before the madame or the other "girls" had a chance to act. "Well, aren't you the catch," she cooed. She wore the form of a young blonde thing in her early twenties, and her outfit left little to the imagination.

Victor was in need of respite. His last couple of jobs had not gone so well. So hiding out at his usual lay low spot was for the best. Years ago, and he knew this was a real memory, Creed had done some favorable work for some working girls in the area. Being the stud he was then, and was now, he had also been a regular. But someone else had decided to make a mess of the neighborhood and it had been ruining his enjoyment way back when. Thus he had earned the favor of a particular kind of local by turning the intruder inside out.

Her name had been Ruth then, it was Ruth now. He always called her ahead of time so she could get his room ready. He hoped the cable was fixed. He liked to watch CNN. And he liked having a sandwich ready for after he and one of the girls got done. Given the choice, tonight he felt like sirloins.

Coming through the door, he was used to being approached swiftly by these little ladies, all of them were tiny next to him and he had a repertoire with some of them. They called him sweetie, he didn’t bite out their throats. Oh and he tipped real well. When the blond walked up, he grinned that toothy, dangerous grin of his and put a hand on her waist. He knew her, Bonnie was her name. He thought. She advertised as Candy though. She called him Sweetie. He liked it. She knew that. And a lot more of what he liked too. But she didn’t use that name this time.

Victor noticed that.

The anomaly would have left a look on his face, but he’d been a spy, he could play ball with whatever was up. What was up? No idea. But he wanted to know. And without giving too much away he hoped sniffing out funny business would give him something. Victor’s nostrils flared as he took a deep breath through his nose. Everything smelled right except for Candy. But he kept it to himself.

“Let Ruth know I’m gonna be needin my room for a while.” He kept his lips curved, but not into that grin, he allowed that to shrink and so it became a smirk. Trailing his fingertips along her body as he walked away. “Then come by, yea?” He winked at her, walking backwards as he headed off to his room.

Mystique wasn't sure how Victor would respond to her little ruse, or if even now he could smell that she wasn't who she appeared to be. His nose was quite acute, and it was perhaps possible that somehow he could tell the difference, even though she should smell the same as the woman she was impersonating.

Regardless, she was sure she could handle him, even if he didn't end up thrilled at the fact that she was showing up here after all this time, and to ask him a favor as well. Oh sure, Victor could be scary, when he was upset, but she knew the trick was to not show fear in front of him. That, and remember that he was just a man. A man who could rip out her entrails with little more than a thought, but just a man regardless.

She followed him to the room, kicking the door closed with one foot and pulling him closer. "You see something you like, handsome?" she teased. One hand slid down to his crotch, cupping it, before she moved toward the bed. Lying down on her side, she shifted to her true form.

"Hello, Victor," she purred.

Victor laughed. A dark, disturbing sound when he saw her change and take on her actual form. That sound usually preceded an evisceration if the target amused him with how pathetic they were. And he was amused. But he wasn't planning to murder Raven. At least not just yet.<p>

"Thought I picked up on your stink, Raven." Not her specifically, but she hadn't been as perfectly disguised as she'd thought. "Losing your touch. Shoulda watched her a little closer." He wondered if the real Candy was dead in a dumpster somewhere. Or laying in a gutter. He would never admit to it, but it made him angry tot think about. But then that's why the shitty way life is.

"What are you after?" He went over and leaned against the door. There was a window if she really wanted out. But getting through the doorway wasn't gonna be an option unless this worked, Whatever 'this' was. "Let me guess. Need some muscle? Got somebody need to disappear that just can't look like a hit. Need him mauled like a bear did it?" People only sought him out for so many reasons. After such a long time he couldn't see it being anything else with her.

Last time he'd seen her, was the Cold War. Long long time leave a guy hanging. He'd done something really rare and opened up to her about what he remembered. Dumb stupid German booze. But he couldn't say she looked back laid out across his bed like that. Blue skin didn't bug him any. Or the yellow eyes. He'd seen it before and he'd seen weirder and worst. He found himself wonder how much like Candy Raven could move and smirked to himself.

"I didn't need to fool you, just get close enough to you that I could be sure you would hear me out," Mystique said with a wave of her hand. Her words might have come out a tad bit defensive, however- she didn't appreciate people telling her that she could use some work on her disguise. Vic's hooker was alive and well, just drugged and unconscious. But he probably didn't care, and she didn't want to sound soft in front of him.

She knew that she had screwed Victor over the last time they had met. That meant she was taking a big risk by coming to him asking for help. Of course, she was counting on him still having a bit of a soft spot for her, and what was life without a little risk?

"Oh Victor, I need a lot of muscle, and for you to use those big sharp claws of yours for what you do best with them," she cooed. She was laying it on thick with him, and even he could probably see that. Time to get to the juicy details.

"There's a Brotherhood of Mutants asset that is being transported by the Feds to a more secure location. Now, the asset isn't particularly important himself- not even particularly likeable- but there's a good chance he has important information in his tiny little head. So I hired a few mercs who had a lot of balls and didn't ask a ton of question to help spring him mid-route, but I need someone more reliable to seal the deal. The mercs are more there as cannon fodder than anything else," she said with a dismissive wave of her hand. The prison convoy guards should have assault rifles and batons, but nothing that poses a serious threat to you. And I'll make sure you're well-compensated for your services," she ran a hand suggestively over one of her breasts. She could compensate him with money or sex- maybe even both, if he was a good attack dog. "How does three thousand sound? "

It sounded like a simple smash and grab. The kind of job you get in, get done. And unless everything goes sideways is perfectly “safe” and boring if you and your team are capable. Victor wondered if Raven had something else up her sleeve. Something she wasn’t telling him because it would dissuade him from going after this twerp. Was it really a nobody? Were they really part of that ridiculous Brotherhood cult thing the magnet guy had built around himself? He watched as she implied one method of payment. His mouth flashed a smile as he huffed a brief laugh. “Hitting a federal convoy transporting what they gotta be calling a terrorist or WMD? Three thousand sounds lower than Atlantis.”

Victor turned around, rifling through the draws. “You want me to hit that, it’ll be quarter million. Up front. And another 10 grand if it ain’t a bust.” Victor was not going to put his neck out there for a measly 3,000 greenbacks. He could make that doing a birthday party for Putin. There wasn’t any doubt in his mind that she could get the money. He’d just have to get it outta her. His issue came from the fact that he wasn’t a cheap whore or a run of the mill psychopath for hire. He was the guy who the CIA used to send in when they didn’t even want to be on the list of people who mighta done something. He was the guy that got turned into a lab rat because he was more animal than man. Or enough of such that nobody batted an eyelash at them human rights violations.

He already didn’t like this job though. He had an instinctual aversion to it. But if this group of yoo-haws wanted to pay him to retrieve their lost little boy, it’d cost them. Hitting federal targets was no walk in the park, not like tapping on the back wall of the local county jail to get cousin Ed out on early parole. But it would be fun. And that is why he didn’t just tell her no.

‘Why don’t you just kill’im?’ Victor almost asked her. But he decided against it. If the kid got on his nerves, he didn’t want Raven thinking he had planned on it all along.
