Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy
shall possess the power of Thor...
The journey to this moment had taken a long while but finally, they had restored Odin to the throne of Asgard and the Nine Realms were once again under his aegis. It had been such a relief to find his Father and that Loki had indeed kept his word, it was the one part of this entire situation that he had been doubtful of. As much as he loved his brother, he had learned to distrust Loki as he had proven time and time again that he was unable or unwilling to act in a manner that was even remotely honorable, a poison had entered his heart that had twisted him somehow. He was the only one that still believed in his brother other than their Father, too much had passed between the two of them for him to abandon Loki fully though. Many were the times that the two of them would go off on some adventure and he was still the only one that could really make him laugh, they had a bond and even as they fought it had been with a heavy heart on both their parts he suspected not that Loki would ever admit that to him. Once Odin had been restored it came to him to hold up his end of their bargain and it wasn't hard for him to admit that there was a large part of him that wanted to go back on his word, his brother was dangerous and for the moment he was contained. However, he had given him his word and he would not allow Leikny to continue to be tied up in their family business whatever her history which he had suspected for a while now was more hers than she had admitted thus far.

Odin had permitted them to leave for Midgard once again, rude rumor had reached their ears that certain laws had been passed that had made things difficult for his friends and so he had warned him not to get involved. As much as he would want to take a stand with those he called friends, it was not the business of Asgard and he had other responsibilities. As much as he wanted to argue the point, his Father was right and so he would keep to his mission rather than find out what had happened since last he had been on Earth. Things had been getting tense but the AVENGERS were there to keep the pace, apparently, that had changed but he still had to restore his brother to his body and so he and Leikny were to arrive in Asgard. Asking Heimdal to open the Bifrost, Leikny provided the place where she had left Loki and they both stepped into the light and disappeared from Asgard. The Bifrost never failed to steal his breath away and a storm cloud formed over New York's skyline, it spun and soon enough an explosion of light burst forth from the center of it. Touching down on Long Island Thor stepped out of the light and looked at Leikny as she did as well, this was her show now and soon enough he would be re-united with Loki. That was going to prove to be an interesting meeting to be sure and he looked at Leikny now that they were here "So, where did you leave my brother's body? It is time we fulfill our end of my pledge and restore him body and soul."

Leikny hadn't so much left Loki here as she had found out that this is where he was. Had it been up to her at the time, she would have burried a knife in his throat and left his body to be found by someone in Asgard. No... Leikny had never actually been to the convalescent home where Loki's body had been taken. Rather with the last of his strength when he had realized he had been poisoned, he had ripped a hole between worlds and staggered inside as the poison robbed him of his memories. Leikny hadn't been exactly prepared for another consciousness being slingshot into her own. She'd barely avoided being pulled into the portal with him.

She didn't look it, but she'd hidden half a dozen or so means of killing a person about her body before she arrived. Just in case. She resented the implication that she'd stashed Loki here. Resented having to do this at all. She wanted nothing more than to kill her father and rid the universe of the blight that he called an existence once and for all. “I did not leave him anywhere. He pulled himself into a portal. Crash landed upon Midgard as the poison took hold. You know... it is not too late. We could always break our deal and simply leave him to rot. Asgard would be all the safer for it.” she knew Thor would never agree to breaking of a promise, but still she couldn't not make the suggestion.

As much as she hid it well, her stomach was all in knots. She was terrified. Afraid that she would fail in her plan she'd had to keep so close to her chest that no one knew of it. Since Loki himself may well be made aware of it if she seemed to be making preparations. Afraid she would succeed and what would come after. Afraid of her father and how he would react to her treachery. She had betrayed him spectacularly and truth be told if she failed in her plan, there was no telling what he would do in retaliation.

Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy
shall possess the power of Thor...
One of the downsides of using the Bifrost was that it attracted attention, normally this wasn't an issue for him but given their purpose here and the crowds starting to gather it may have called notice that he would like to avoid. Mortals were still in awe of them but there was a change in their tone, some looked angry while others looked afraid and given recent events he could hardly blame them for that. People were on their phones and he was certain that authorities would be called to their location, that meant that they had to move with purpose if they were going to release Loki from his prison without others getting involved. His brother was to blame for much of the troubles in Asgard as of late but there was still hope for his redemption at least that was what he chose to believe but more importantly he had kept his word and led them to where Odin was being kept. With the Allfather restored, Thor had been able to step back from being the Prince Regent but his Father did surprise him when he complimented him on holding the Realms together. Sometimes the use of force is necessary his father told him but it is the application of force and when to apply it that separates the King from the Tyrant. It was one of the few times he could remember his Father actually praising him though he was sure that he had missed a few of them over the years due to his own arrogance but they had grown closer as of late.

When Leikny suggested that they should leave Loki where he was, he turned his head to regard her as if she had said something in a different language. Oaths had been sworn and as far as he was concerned that was all that mattered, the fact that she would even utter those words lowered his regard for her which was a shame "I say thee nay Leikny. Oaths have been sworn and as such we are honor bounded to keep them. Let us to our business, our arrival has attracted much attention and I do not need the authorities interfering in our business." People were starting to gather around them but Thor gently eased past them and walked towards the building where they had located Loki. He had forgotten that he had managed to escape but to bring himself to this place was unexpected, a retirement home would not have been a place that he would think that Loki would ever allow himself to be which made it the perfect place to hide. Opening the door, there was a nurse sitting behind a desk who looked very surprised at the visitors who walked through her door "I am Nurse Hunter how can I help you?" Thor raised his eyebrow and looked at Leikny, it would be to her to discover which one of these people were Loki in disguise but a thought did occur to him "In fact, you might milady. We are searching for a friend who would have been brought in here in the last six months and perhaps might be in a coma. Could you look through your records and assist us in this matter? It would be greatly appreciated."

Leikny couldn't say she was surprised by Thor's reaction. She had learned much of the Thunderer in their recent travels. He was always honorable, first and foremost. She was sure he wouldn't like that she had even made the suggestion. But she couldn't help but feel obliged to try. There had been a time when she loved her father more than anyone else in the universe, only a few short years ago, though it felt like a lifetime. But it was too late now. Choices had been made and bridges had been burned.

She stepped inside with Thor. But she knew that would do little to draw attention away from them. While a simple glammer would redirect much of the attention away from them and allow them to blend in, little could hide the fact they had arrived in a blinding flash of rainbow light. Nor did it seem Thor had the patience to take the preparations to remain incognito. Fortunately she had bothered to register with the SRA during her time working for Stark, so if they ran into trouble she had her card and could probably talk them out of any other trouble with local authorities.

Thor handled speaking with the nurse, so Leikny left him to it. Instead she prepared her mind for a spell. She'd need to confirm that the body was Loki's, and it was likely to not look like Loki's true form. So she needed to look for the aura of the body. An aura was so short range and offered little telling information, so it was unlikely that Loki would have bothered to disguise his in a hurry. Given there weren't any other Asgardians in this facility, she should be able to tell which one is him that way.

Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy

The nurse looked at the two individuals standing in front of her and normally she would never reveal patient information because of the various laws that were in place to prevent such things but the person asking her for help was an AVENGER. Thor had done a lot of good for the city and they all owed him a lot so against her better judgment she accessed her computer and started a search using the perimeters that he had outlined. At least they had upgraded their computer system with the new Stark server which she had been pushing for them to purchase for months and finally, their funding had come through and she had spent the last month putting all of their details from their database into this one. With a few clicks of the mouse and so commands the computer was doing the work for her and soon enough she had a couple of hits, one of them was an elderly woman in her mid 70s who had been found in a Park and brought here for care under the City's new plan to care for the elderly and the second was a drop in. They were people that were brought in by family members or sometimes strangers who had found them either in their homes or on the street and left them on their front door step. It was sad but it was a reality of their profession, thankfully businesses like Stark Industries gave a lot of money to charity so they could afford to take in these people that would be otherwise abandoned.

Thor nodded at her as she quietly gave them the details and the directions that would take them both to the rooms where the two patients were located along the way she asked them to not cause them any problems, that would be the last thing they needed. "I thank thee, fair healer. Thy caution gives thee credit. Come Leikny, we have business to attend." The people here were still a little surprised to see someone like Thor here but most were patients suffering from the curse of old age, something that he had never thought that he would have to worry about though it was a fear that he had. Sitting in his chair unable to answer the call to battle and perhaps even lacking the passion to seek it, he knew that it was the fate of all warriors that survived as long but twas not a destiny he sought. Thor opened the doors into the medical ward where there were people sitting with those too infirm or too ill to care for themselves, such a sad state and he considered perhaps Asgard should send some of their own Apothecaries here to assist Midgard with her medical science. It would be an improvement over the conditions that he saw around him but he stayed his course and the two people they were seeking were in rooms opposing each other "So Leikny, which one of these people are Loki in disguise? I would see my brother restored and my oath fulfilled."

Leikny left the business of dealing with the Midgardian nurse to Thor. It seemed he had the situation well in hand and she had no wish to interject and risk disrupting what was already a successful operation. She had more than enough to mentally attend to on her own, so she followed along as the nurse showed them to the room containing the coma patients that fit the criteria. Personally she was glad that the potion had not resulted in a fully mobile and awake Loki, with no memory or any ability to create new ones. As that would prove a particularly messy potential on a world of beings as fragile as Midgard. As it was, she really gave the humans in the room little notice for the moment, her focus on the task ahead of her. Once they were alone in the room, she gave Thor a nod and began to work. She intoned a sound somehow both nasal and resonating deep in her throat, not unlike that of a Tuvan throat singer, as she let her eyes shift out of focus as she rolled her neck from side to side. After a few moments of the noise, she stepped forward and began to walk from coma patient to coma patient looking for a special halo of light that surrounded each creature.

She walked from bed to bed till her eyes fell upon the woman whose aura was not human. Asgardian auras were brighter and somehow more solid than those of most humans, with variations in intensity and luminescence based upon the individual's mystic aptitude as well as personality and spiritual inclinations. This aura was definitely not human... but aside from that was essentially a blank slate. In other words, exactly who they were looking for. She closed her eyes and stopped intoning the sound. “This is it.” she said as she pulled the antidote to the poison out of a pouch at her hip. It was a large pellet she had coated in chocolate so it would go down easier. Just like the one she had hidden under her tongue when she poisoned Loki. “I am going to administer the antidote. It should take effect quite quickly. However after that I need to call Loki's consciousness back into his body. Fortunately it's here so we should not have long to wait. But it might make sense for you to watch from the door, to keep anyone who might come in outside. A spell like this tends to not interact well with electricity. We may have some power fluctuations and the like and I cannot be disturbed until Loki's consciousness leaves my body and enters his.”

Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy
shall possess the power of Thor...
Thor kept his silence as Leikny went about her task of seeing which one of them was Loki in disguise and then after that they would restore the Trickster though he still had his problems with that as well. Loki still had many issues with both him and their Father which were still to be resolved and many would see his current situation as just given his actions as of late but that was not how Thor saw it. Loki had caused much pain and chaos in the Realms but he had also shown some remorse and whats more he was his brother and those bonds were hard to break and yet there was fear in him about what Loki would do once restored. Thor had given his word that he would defend Leikny from her Father which was still something he was coming to terms with but which could not be denied after discovering the truth during their quest to Olympus in search of Odin. Loki had led them on a merry chase but eventually, he had kept his word and now it was upon the two of them to fulfill their part of that bargain. Leikny's suggestion that they break that oath had sat ill with him but he couldn't blame her, Loki was a serious enemy to have and when he was determined Loki could do things that amazed in his experience which meant that he was going to have to be firm with his brother when it came time to intercede on her behalf. Loki was many things but he knew in a direct confrontation that the odds did not favor him well, but Thor would never make the mistake of underestimating him.

Leikny indicated that it was the old women that was the body of Loki in disguise and try as he might, Thor could not see any reason why that would be but such things were beyond his understanding and he knew as much which was why he had brought Leikny into this. She went on to instruct him in what needed to be done and for the most part, it sat well with him except for the part where she wished him to guard the door to prevent interruption. As someone raised around magic, Thor was familiar with what could occur if a spell was disturbed but there was one thing that made this difficult for him and that was the fact that he could not truly trust her to not harm Loki as he recovered his wits. Loki would be completely vulnerable and such a target would be tempting for the young sorceress especially with the knowledge of what Loki would do once he had recovered his strength but she had earned his trust and perhaps now was the time that someone should show some faith in her "I will do ask you request Leikny but I would ask that you remember the oaths that bind you as well as I as you restore Loki body and soul." With that he closed the door and took his place with Mjolnir in hand, he hoped that she would not disappoint him but if she did then she would face the consequences of them and he would assure her that they would be serious as well as dire.

Leikny nodded as she positioned the old woman who was secretly Loki's head so she could more easily put the antidote down her throat. She had to massage the throat for a few seconds to help the muscles swallow. Never for a moment did she doubt that the body was anything other than what her spell said it was. She knew better than to doubt her own magic. That route would only ever weaken the power of her spells. As she waited for the antidote to work she pulled up a chair along side the woman's bed. Channeling Loki's consciousness would be taxing. And she didn't want to end up on the floor.

As she began to intone ancient words of power, the wind outside began to blow with a chill it did not possess before. Her words were clear and crisp, to match the wind outside. Slowly, ever so slowly she began to draw out Loki's mind from within her own. A painstaking process as they had been entwined for over a year. Each fresh exertion brought with it, its own struggle and the magic required cracked through the air like a whip. The lights flickered more than once. The window banged open to allow a localized blizzard entrance. The building even shook at the end with the final exertion, the mind wrenched free and slingshot into the only vessel it was meant to reside in.

Leikny's strength was all but out of her. Her head throbbed as though she had just given birth out of her skull. Which, from a certain perspective, she had. The young woman was drenched in sweat as she reached out with what little magical reserve she had left to freeze the door shut. Weak as she was the frost spell wouldn't hold Thor more than the second it took him to realize she'd frozen the door shut. But it was better than nothing.

She took a deep breath and whispered in to Loki's ear. “Father.” she said, drawing together what strength she had left. “I wanted you to know, I kept my word. No more... no less.” she said. The last sentence bringing an all too familiar wry smirk to her lips. As she drew back the dagger she kept in her boot and brought it down with the last of her strength at Loki's heart.

A moment, maybe two was all she would have needed. Dagger in hand the blade's path was true, but blue eyes shot open and a single hand shot up, quickly catching his daughter's wrist before she could drive the blade down into his chest. "Now, now, now. Is that any way to greet your dear father?" he asked, his voice carrying with it a light almost humorous tone to it. Loki was amused to no end of the honor of others and how it would lead to their own misfortune. Leikny would have been better off leaving him to his fate as she wanted, but now... well that just wasn't going to happen.

With a flash of green light, Loki's clothes changed into something more appropriate for himself and he slowly pushed himself up out of the bed with his other hand. Once he was actually in an upright position, his hand moved over, taking the knife from her fingers. Gently at first, but with an increased strength should she attempt to stop him. "A word of advice. If you're going to kill someone, perhaps do it before trying to get the final word in." What he'd do from here wasn't sure, his eyes glanced over at the door, iced over. A smile spread over his face then and he couldn't help himself when he chuckled at the situation.

Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy
shall possess the power of Thor...
Patience was what he needed now as Leikny went about restoring his brother, he had given Loki his word and as such he was bound to it to see him restored body and soul even if a part of him thought that was a terrible idea. Loki was not one to learn certain lessons well, he was able to absorb anything that would show him power or the chance of advancement but the more subtle lessons seemed to have been lost on him. That was ironic considering the fact that he was the God of Mischief but Loki's ambition had always clouded his good sense, now in the past there was something to govern that ambition, his compassion but that seemed to have been lost when he discovered his true nature, a secret his father kept from them both. That was a part of his regret over this entire situation with his brother, there was so much that had happened between the two of them but the ties of blood were strong with him and Loki, so much so that he still held hope that his brother was still in there rather than the twisted reflection that had caused so much pain and suffering. Thor had always hoped that his brother could be redeemed and would take his rightful place as his advisor once Odin had stepped aside, he knew that their father would not last forever and he still felt woefully unequipped to deal with the challenges of Kingship.

This time where Odin had been missing had reinforced that belief, as Regent he had been forced to deal with situations that his father would easily have handled but he had struggled with. The Realms had fallen into a state of war and once again the armies of Asgard had been forced to march once again and after many months they had managed to quell those elements that his father could have done with a quiet word. His thoughts were lost in memory but it was his breath that caught his attention, it steamed and glancing behind him he saw that the door had been frozen shut. Something was wrong and almost immediately he realized what was happening, Leikny was terrified of her father and he had sworn an oath to protect her from him but he could sense that she was perhaps taking a more direct route. Regardless if it was potentially dangerous to the spell, Thor moved to the door and seeing it was encrusted with ice drew back his fist and with one blow exploded it inwards. He saw Loki lying on the bed as Leikny tried to drive a dagger into his heart, his eyes glowed as he stepped forward and went to slap Leikny backward so that she would be away from Loki "Stand down! Both of you." Thor would brook no nonsense especially now, he might be an oaf according to his brother but he was still the Prince Regent and he spoke with authority "Brother, welcome back to the land of the living. I understand that you have more than ample justification for wanting the head of your daughter but hear this. I have given my oath to protect her from you and I will keep it, as for you Leikny, you claim to hate your father but you act just like him. If you wish to be treated differently then him then act differently and earn the respect of others rather than commit an act of idiocy and cost you that same respect. The authorities will be here soon and we must be away from this place."

With what little strength Leikny had left well and truly expended, she couldn't put much of a struggle up as Loki wrenched the knife from her hand. The powerful magics she had channeled had taken too much out of her. It was clear with her attempt, she hadn't even wanted to get away with it, there was no way that would have been possible. No she was willing to live with the consequences of her choice. She was ready to scream at Loki. Tell him what a hypocrite he was... but then Thor was through the door. And there was no time.

Thor's words hit her harder than his hammer ever could. She'd never sought out Thor, or any Asgardian, save Loki's, respect before. As far as she thought, she didn't care if she had it or not. But when he said she was acting like Loki would... and she knew he was right. It stung. Thor had no way of knowing her intentions. How the decision had pained her and the time she had put in weighing the consequences. Sif might have had an inkling from their prior evening's conversation, but there was no way Thor could know. She wanted to make him understand. To explain why. But she wasn't about to let that show. No she would conduct herself with the same level of poise and confidence that their race was known for.

Leikny straightened herself up and looked at the room for a moment. The snow had gone. But the door was kindling. She walked over to the window and closed it. She reached out a hand to try and mend the door with magic, but found all she could manage was a flurry of blue sparks. “We should leave this place as much as we found it as possible. Father, would you do the honors, as it would appear my energies are too far depleted?” After a pause she begrudgingly added. “Please.”

Oh good... Thor.

Try as he might, his gaze that had been fixed on his dear daughter turned to the adoptive brother who he'd so many times disowned. Yet here he was, the will behind the instrument that brought him back to life in a manner of speaking. "I care little for your oaths, Odinson," he said, showing his displeasure towards the God of Thunder and his silly notions of honor. "Besides, why should I want my dear daughter's head? She's only done exactly what I'd do in her position and believe it or not... I'm actually proud of her." Imagine that, in trying to kill him his daughter had only proved her willingness to do what was necessary, smart as well.

As much as he did not wish to agree with his brother and with the plea of his daughter, he sighed and with a wave of his hand, a flash of green light, the door was repaired. "I suppose I shall also make this easier on us," he said, waving his hand once more and to anyone looking at the three, they would appear to have simply vanished as he made each of them, even Thor imperceptible to the human eye. "Come, I've had enough of this place and I've only just gotten back." As nonchalantly as possible, the God of Mischief was on the move, looking to quit this horrid place and find greener pastures.

Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy
shall possess the power of Thor...
He had to admit that it was good being back in the presence of his brother once more, far too much had happened between them for him to ever trust Loki fully again but there was always that hope in his heart that one day, his brother would return. Of course, that was something that he would never admit to, Sif had made it clear that she and Loki would never be able to reconcile and he had his doubts that Asgard had forgotten and their Father would certainly have issue with it. But Thor remembered the brother who had stood by his side against all odds and with blade and magic had turned the tide of battle more than once, the Sons of Odin they had been called and long had it been heralded that they would be the future of that Nine Realms. Thor ruling as was his birthright with Loki standing at his side offering sage counsel and advice, he knew that there were aspects of Kingship that he had little stomach for and even less understanding but that was where Loki would flourish and the Nine Realms would benefit from. That was the dream that he had held when the two of them had been but boys seeking out adventure but that was turn asunder and now was but a dream drowned by falling night, his brother was now a different person, embittered and twisted to the point where they were but strangers. It would be far easier to walk away, to treat him as the enemy that so many thought him to be but to do so would be to abandon one of his own and that was something that he could not do.

Lekiny seemed suitably chastised at least that was his impression and she had convinced her father to act properly, the door was restored and they were now protected from detection by one of Loki's spells. Thor followed behind Loki as they made their way clear of the building, as they left the police cars had shown up and from the looks of it they had brought some pretty solid back up including some heavily armed individuals. That wasn't surprising considering that Asgardians would have been reported in the area but given that he was an AVENGER, Thor liked to assume that there would have been some trust there but things had changed since he had been away. Thanks to Heimdal, he had some understanding of the SRA but seeing it in practice was an experience to be sure "They are afraid, you can sense it in the air. The last time I felt it this strongly was when you led the Chitauri against this world Brother, for such fear to fall upon the people of Midgard, it breaks the heart." He had no problem expressing such feelings now, he had been the Regent of Asgard and those stern duties had shaken much of his fear from him, replacing it with a feeling of responsibility. As they walked down the stairs, Thor motioned for them to follow them away from the police, he had no idea if they had metahuman in their forces but he did not want them to detect them.

"Brother, for once I don't have any reason to believe that you are behind this mischief. It would be even beyond your talents to sow such discord as the mortals here on Midgard have managed, much has occurred while I have been serving as Regent. There is a war going on here that perhaps eclipses what has gone on before, once before Loki I asked you to put aside your twisted ambition and to come home. Father is not pleased to be sure but before anything else, before any argument or remarks color our reunion, I would ask thee to consider returning to the Golden City. What is happening here will have effects that the people here cannot conceive, the Nine Realms have only recently been returned to peace. After Odin's disappearance, the Realms fell into chaos and the armies of Asgard had to march, I would not see the chaos here spread and so we need to be united. Leikny here has an understanding of Midgard from her years here and you brother, you have always been clever, smart and able to see the patterns behind the chaos. We were always a good team and despite it all, I still remember the man who stood by my side all these years defending our home, you could be that man again." Thor had to admit that he had some doubt but he held his hand out anyway, there were bonds of blood between the two of them and his niece but there was so much distrust that one of them had to try to bridge that gap. Loki would know that Thor meant every word that he had said, it was not in him to use guile not that it would be much good against Loki but he waited for the sharp retort and the insulting remark though he prayed to the All Father that he would be wrong.

I would rather be a good man than a great king

To this you must be reconcilled

You'll always be your father's child.
Leikny bristled at Loki's compliment. Yes he did what she asked. But he knew full well that there was a time not too long ago where such a statement would have been absolutely everything she wanted to hear. He could not think that that was still the case. It had to be a ploy to put her at ease before he could punish her for her actions. Except he also had to expect she knew it was a ploy. So what was his angle? Maybe he wanted to make Thor complacent. Separate her from her protector. But if she called him on it now, surely Thor would believe him over her. She'd have to find a way to prove it. But for now... go along. As the spell of concealment encircled them, she said “Thank you.” mechanically. Rudeness would serve nothing in this instance. And weakened as she were she realized just how vulnerable she was right now, with her greatest weapon depleted. She would need to return to Asgard and rest there in order to fully regain her strength.

They walked for a little while, and she listened to Thor speak. She had a keener concept of the SRA than any Asgardian, given she had been on Midgard at Stark Tower for much of its implementation. Even still, she didn't claim to truly understand this 'human matter'. Midgard was at war against itself. In grief over the losses and collateral damage they had suffered in the recent years, they had enacted laws to control their own protectors. Some of the protectors had embraced the laws, hoping to show the people that they were worth their trust. While others balked against the laws as an impingement upon their freedoms that might doom the world when heroes were truly needed once more. Both sides had valid points. And it was not her place to weigh in. Yes she had registered because it was needed for her work with Stark. But in truth she would have done what she felt she needed to do, regardless of what the laws of Midgard said. Thankfully it had never come to that.

She elected not to weigh in as Thor and Loki spoke, not wanting to interrupt.

In the end...
You will always kneel

"My pleasure," he said, glad once more to be able to weave spells and feel the surge of magical energies within him. As fun as it was, to be trapped inside of Leikny's head, he preferred being in his own head. As Loki lead the trio away from the Death's Waiting Room, he heard Thor speak of the human's fear and Loki only smirked at the thought. "They should be. Their heroes are at each other's throats and the people follow suit like the mindless cattle they are," he said, holding nothing back since he felt little point in doing so. After his little speech in Germany before his invasion, his feelings on these Midgardian's were well known.

What seemed to strike at him and pluck a very specific nerve was when Thor believed this conflict beyond his talents. "It amuses me how you can be so wrong about me, brother. I turned you and your little friends on one another and nearly destroyed your Avengers before they even started. Turning these humans against one another would be a game." The only mistake he made in his plot against the Avengers was murdering that insignificant stain, underestimating what Agent Coulson was to them all. He'd give these humans one thing, they had a habit of being a problem when break their things.

He had to admit, he was a bit surprised that Thor would ask him to return to Asgard. Did he think him a fool? "Return to the Realm Eternal? What's to stop the All-Father from placing me back in chains? Throwing me back in that cage? I have no place in Asgard, I never did." In all his efforts to prove himself a worthy son, his father had rejected him and it was in that moment, hanging from the Bifrost, he'd lost hope and let Gungnir go. Turning to look at Leikny, he decided to pose a question to her. "What do you think, dear daughter? Would you step foot in Asgard again if you were in my place?"
