The sun had already set and the mid-October night had a slight chill to it as it surrounded the city. Eddie Brock, a promising young journalist went missing about a year ago. The rumors of his bizarre disappearance varied greatly among his college peers and friends. some say he moved out of town after being dumped and losing his job, others say he took his own life, and others say he was abducted by the aliens who invaded New York. Well, the last theory wasn't completely off.

He had lost everything he loved and held dear all because of Spider-Man, he remembered kneeling in the church praying to the Lord above to make Spider-Man pay for what he did, that was when he heard the bell ringing. Curiosity got the better of him and he went to inspect the sound only to find black ooze dripping from above. It covered him and invaded his mind. In a cheap motel room the muscular blonde slept, tossing and turning as he suffered from vivid nightmares. With a crack of lighting Brock sat up in bed to few the thunderstorm outside as rain pelted the window.

Eddddddiiiiiieeeeeee

A bone-chilling voice called to him as if whispering in his ear. A voice only he could hear.

Let's go out, Edddieee, Let's go out.

"Alright.....alright...."

Brock replied as the blackness consumed him and soon he was slinging from building to building despite the rain. Normally the creature made the rounds near Hell's Kitchen since that was where criminals seemed to gather but tonight he ventured further. He found himself near the loading docks when once again the voice called to him.

Eddie, look!

Below there seemed to be a group of individuals forcing their way into a locked warehouse with a truck backed up to the loading dock. It was obvious they were criminals and that made Eddie upset, he hated criminals and how they felt they could spit upon the law and do as they please, hurting the innocent. Tonight they made a big mistake.

Stop them. We have to stop them!

Slinging down he landed on the roof of the idling truck, the thunder had covered the sound of him landing but the one guard who had his back turned to the truck finally noticed he wasn't alone the moment the lighting flashed a large silhouette over the ground before him. By then it was too late. Pulled up to the roof of the truck and crushed to death with bare hands.

Moments later the other men returned from inside the warehouse pushing carts filled with weapons they planned on selling on the black market. Something was amiss when the guard was not at his post or anywhere within eyesight. With all the freaks in masks running around the criminals got a little paranoid and grabbed for their weapons looking for any spandex-clad do-gooder.

"Ah-Ah-Ah.....you'll shoot your eye out."

Venom called from the inside of the truck, hidden in the dark empty space and leapt out to tackle another man as his trigger finger sent a barrage of bullets into Venom's chest and up into the air before dropping the semi-automatic rifle with a scream.

Love, Fury, Passion, Energy
So let your soul dance baby time to free yourself at last unshackle your life spirit fly away far from the past...

This wasn’t her Earth. Her Earth was known as Earth 295 aka The Age of Apocalypse and it existed in a completely separate dimension as the one she now found herself trapped within. Her Earth had been ravaged for decades under the Darwinistic regime of a despotic immortal mutant and had, more than once, come within a hairsbreadth of complete annihilation. The New York of her world was little more than a wasteland created in a war for supremacy between mutants and humans with the remains left like scattered ash upon the earth and built over by a gleaming black city of advanced science and alien technology. This world had not seen such horrors come to pass and thus remained relatively intact, almost virginal in comparison. Yet that did not make this world any safer from elements one could deem unwholesome or corrupting. Blink knew this kind of world all too well. She had been to so many like it and yet as similar as most were each and every world was in some way, no matter how small, different from every other. In this world she found that history had not passed in the same fashion as so many others. Elements of the past, present and maybe even the future, were somewhat different than she might expect and that in itself made being trapped in this world all the more worrisome. Her experience and her skills would keep her alive of that she was sure but not knowing what to expect, only having a baseline of knowledge, was not something she was entirely used to after so many years of hopping from one reality to another. The Exiles would come for her eventually, she had so doubts of that but in the meantime she needed to keep on her toes and learn everything she could about this obscure corner of the omniverse.

Since coming to this world Blink had kept on the move as much as she could. She was tempted to try and make contact with the usual crowd, the X-Men or the Avengers, hell any of the regular hero types, but because this place seemed to be slightly more offset than other dimensions she had felt it was best to scope out the terrain before jumping in head first. Crime on most levels remained the same as just about everywhere. Wars were still fought, battles between super powers or those with extraordinary abilities continued to wage, and for this she oddly felt a sense of relief and perhaps even comfort. She could understand this world, if not on whole then at least in parts and she could thus adjust… maybe even help. That is what she wanted anyways. Clarice Ferguson could not sit idle when out in the greater wide world people needed help, wrongs needed righting. She was by no means altruistic, she didn’t think of herself as a hero and she knew that sometimes bad things needed to be done for the greater good to be served but over all she needed to be a force for justice whether she was to stay in this place or not. To this end she had taken up a pseudo-vigilante type role, moving from city to city through her abilities to teleport practically anywhere and fighting wrongdoings whenever she happened upon them. New York, being the city she had the most experience with in just about every world, acted in a way as her hub or home base. Though she teleported herself to the sandy beaches of a deserted Caribbean island to sleep or relax, the Big Apple was where she would spend the most time as she tried to learn about this world and come to grips with her own awkward situation.

This night was no different…

Standing within the shadows of a darkened alley with the hood of a leather trench coat pulled up over her head Blink watched the goings on of the docks with keen interest. She was thankful for the new change of clothes having nicked some of them from the wardrobe of some drug dealers she had helped bust. Though she felt most comfortable in her green uniform the need to stay inconspicuous for the time being was more prevalent than comfort. She had not been far away moments ago, listening to various radio bandwidths inside her head through the golden bracer device fused to her forearm. Known as the Talis the device, usually used to augment her abilities allowing her to teleport between dimensions, also acted as a sophisticated interdimensional computer permitting her access to everything from wireless radio transmissions to television and even the internet where it was available, all through her mind. Though she could not access the infinite information within the Nexus of All Realities as she might under normal circumstances it still had its uses in keeping her up to date. It was only by chance as she filtered through different transmissions, like slowly turning the dial on a stereo but in a mental sort of way, that she came upon the low level radio chatter between people on the docks.

“Shipment A3 Check – A4 Check – A5 Check – Advanced Maturation Containment Systems Enroot. Decommissioned Stark Munitions Secured. Relay Confirmation Scientist Supreme Alpha 69” She could hear the voice in her head with only a slight crackle of background feedback. “Check… AIM Operation 69 nearing completion. Maintain Security Level Beta.” She grimaced at the mention of AIM-Advanced Idea Mechanics, often times a more technologically based offshoot of the terrorist organization known as Hydra. She had tangled with various versions of the group in the past and knew that instinctually that even without much information on this world that this could mean no good.

BLINK!!!

A burst of pink energy illuminated the darkness for only an instant and the elfin mutant Blink, Exile in Exile, slipped through one of her portals. Taking up position in the alley she watched as not far away what appeared to a large moving truck was being hurriedly offloaded by men in black uniforms. “Cuz that’s not suspicious at all.” She sarcastically mused to herself while reaching behind her shoulder to grab a crystal javelin from her quiver. Ready to move, ready to take action against what was clearly an illegal operation of some kind Blink only paused when she watched a dark figure swoop down from the black rain pouring sky and land with eerie gymnastic grace on top of the van. “Hello, and what have we here?” Patience, a lesson she had been forced to learn in her early days and a hard lesson when ones father figure was someone like Sabretooth. Nevertheless she stayed in the shadows, watching as the figure moved with serpentine grace and a brutality to match her metnors. “Venom…” She hissed the name, the erratic, fluid like movements of the symbiote unmistakable to someone who had encountered its like in the past. “Things are never easy…” She hissed knowing that in some worlds Venom could be a hero and others a murderous monster but no matter what side of the coin of justice he fell on he was always a danger to confront.

She watched in silence as the creature attacked the first of the guards. The darkness of the symbiote, like living night, lashing out at them as bullets rained fourth only to be enveloped and rendered useless. He would kill them… not a great loss and not something Blink was concerned with stopping but she could see a better immediate use for the goons.

BLINK!!!

A flash of pink light, a portal of swirling energy and an instant later the black garbed, pink skinned mutant stood between the creature and its prey. “Stand down gruesome!” She hissed while holding the blade like crystal javelin out in a clearly threatening gesture. “I don’t care if you eat them… they probably deserve it but don’t ya think it might be better go get a bit of info from them first!” She glared at the black monster, her pupiless glowing green eyes unwavering as she stared down the mass of sharp teeth and talon like claws. “Something is going on here… I want to know what and how best to shut it down.”

Tonight Venom was certainly living up to his "Lethal Protector" moniker as he savagely ripped the armed AIM agent apart. A flash of crimson, the dark sky, the rumbling of thunder, put it all together and you had one terrifying scene straight from a horror movie. Venom didn't care if these would be scientists or their goons were just stealing weapons, to him, any criminal was nothing more than scum tarnishing the city that needed to be eradicated. The men tried to put a stop to Venom but bullets only bounced right off his black hide like water rolling off a windshield. As they tried their hardest to fight him off Venom managed to grab another AIM agent, his massive hand covering the man's mouth and lifting his body off the ground as he held his arm up in the air. Tha AIM agent kicked and struggled but the 6'3" muscular brute wasn't about to loosen his grip anytime soon, in fact, he only held the man's jaw tighter and revealed in his struggling.

"Pathetic worm, you think you can steal weapons under our watch? Someone hasn't been paying attention to the headlines."

He said referring to the various Daily Bugle articles and other news outlets that have been covering the gruesome murders that started last October. At first, they were linked to the "Sinister Spider-Man" but over time the public learned the truth. The REAL Spider-Man who was allied with the Avengers was not behind the murders of the various criminals who were found strung up in black webbing, but it was actually Venom. As much fun as it was to make Parker squirm with fear by making him take the blame Eddie found that being himself and taking credit for all his good deeds was much more rewarding.

The man struggled to breathe and Eddie watched the terror filling his eyes, black tendrils left Venom's palm and entered the AIM agent's mouth, filling his throat and lungs. It only took a few seconds for him to finally "drown" on the black substance and once his body went dead limp, Venom tossed him aside with a toothy grin and wondered who he'd play with next.

Before he could pick out his next toy he was stopped by a woman with pink skin and pointed ears. At first, he thought it was a gender-bended version of a former host, Nightcrawler of the X-Men but sensed she was different somehow. Venom opened his mouth as his thick pink tongue slithered out, dripping with green slime.

"Lookie here, little girl wants to play Nancy Drew and spoil our fun. Well, we won't allow it!"

Venom shouted as he took a swing at her with an arm as thick as a fire hydrant. She had a point about finding out who was behind this scheme but Venom was only focusing on the here and now, winning the battle and not thinking of the war.

So let your soul dance baby time to free yourself at last unshackle your life spirit fly away far from the past...

Blink should have expected it and knowing that made her half sigh and half growl to herself. Ducking low to avoid the beach ball sized fist then back flipping with expert gymnastic skill to put a bit of distance between herself and the mountain of black slime she chided herself. Dealing with psychopaths was rarely ever a viable option in her line of business. Sure, her own ‘father’ Victor Creed, sorta fell in that category this much she had to admit but her earth’s Sabretooth was somewhat more stable than those encountered in other dimensions. That in mind though she had learned a great deal from the feral mutant whom had raised her and that included garnering a temper and an enjoyment of a good fight. “Have it your way toothsome but don’t say I didn’t warn you.” She growled low, almost as viciously as the creature she was facing while pulling another crystal javelin from her quiver, holding two blade like glowing pink crystals in each hand. “Then again if ya had any brains between you and that black goo you call a second skin you would realized you could do a lot more hurt to these punks and their bosses if you took some time to figure out exactly what it is they are doing…”

She knew Venom, at least other incarnations of the creature, and thus she knew some of what to expect if she had to face off against the mountain of muscles and teeth. Underneath the symbiote was a human, usually a man known as Eddie Brock though sometimes it was someone else. Eddie was generally smart, a former reporter, but also a bit unhinged which allowed the suit to do at least half to two-thirds of the thinking between them. The suit itself in some incarnations was an alien life form, in others a human made construct, either way though it didn’t like fire and loud noise but neither of those really pertained to her… well unless she wanted to start a dock fire… not a good idea at least for the moment. The symbiote clearly had some basic intelligence if not full sentience, that much she could see by just looking at the Venom in her presence. It generally had the abilities of Spider-Man as well as the capability for long reach web and tendril attacks, perhaps even the ability to create sharp, blade like weapons. The creature enhanced the strength, healing and durability of its host while also driving it’s aggression up through the roof. All of this pointed, at least for her, to the smartest strategy being to fight it from a distance. Yes, Venom could use its webs and symbiote substance to reach and fight but its greatest strength and deadliness came when you got in close to the muscles and teeth. She needed to use her honed battle skills, gymnastic talent and most of all her portals to her advantage, hit and run till it wore out or saw reason.

Or she could just teleport him into space… That was possible too…

No… this wasn’t her world and she didn’t know just yet how something so drastic might affect the future of this dimension. Sure Venom was just one guy… a psychotic monster of a guy, but sometimes she found in her line of work one life, no matter how big or small, made all the difference. “Look gruesome… I think it’s time for you to cool off.” She glared at him from under her black leather hood, her green eyes glowing almost demon like as she concentrated her powers.

BLINK!!!

In a flashing burst of pink light a portal opened behind her and in one quick motion she back flipped into it disappearing in a burst of pink light. Though it might have seemed for an instant that she was retreating a literal second later another portal opened behind and a bit above the Lethal Protector and out of it the lithe form of Blink appeared, her legs extended in a thunderous surprise drop kick from above aimed directly at the back of the monster man’s head.

"You remind us of someone......yes....the blue one, the Nightcrawler. He and his little girlfriend thought they could beat us, seperate us, they learned the hard way. They thought they'd won but we came back and found the little girlfriend. She was a tasty little treat. How do you taste?"

Venom was both unique and a darker copy of someone else all at the same time. Most of his powers and abilities were stolen from the symbiote's first host the Amazing Spider-Man. Strength, Speed, Durability, Agility, Wall-Crawling, etc. All copied and improved upon, in many ways Venom was stronger than the original. One such power that was improved upon was the spider-sense. It worked differently than Parker's since essentially the entire costume was capable of "seeing" its surroundings. Eddie's "spider-sense" therefore took less time to sense the danger than Peter's did and given that Venom's reflexes were faster than Spider-Man's he could have easily dodged Blink's kick despite the speed at which she teleported. But Venom didn't budge. He let the pink woman think she got the drop on him and kick him in the back of the head.

The moment her foot would come into contact with his body the suit would react with lightning speed creating various long tendrils in order to capture her foot and therefore trie to ensnare the entire body of this mysterious mutant girl. Once she was trapped then he could do with her as he pleased, maybe crush her bones to dust, swallow her alive, maybe grab her by the legs and rip her in two like a wishbone. So many choices, how were they ever going to make up their minds?

"You've got spunk Pinky, we like that in a girl. Too bad you won't live to see tomorrow."

Love, Fury, Passion, Energy
So let your soul dance baby time to free yourself at last unshackle your life spirit fly away far from the past...

Blink grimaced at Venom and his little play at mind games. Throwing out her resemblance to Kurt Wagner wasn’t something new for her, all her life she had been likened to the blue mutant and had more than once been mistaken for his daughter, sister, cousin or whatever. She expected as much these days by those not familiar with a Clarice Ferguson in their own worlds, there being so few who ever survive past puberty. In all truth to her knowledge there was no family relation between herself and Nightcrawler, the resemblance in both powers and looks only being a rather funny fluke of mutational nature. It only brought her a bit of amusement when someone made this mistaken assumption because it frequently came as a much greater surprise when they realized she was a different beast altogether.

What was even more amusing to Blink however was the obvious head game of trying to make it sound like he had hurt this worlds Nightcrawler and someone he loved and hoping it would affect her in some deep, adverse way. She didn’t like the thought but she would not let it distress her beyond a slight grossed out image in her head. She didn’t know this world’s Nightcrawler and for all she knew he could have been some evil mass murdering villain. She didn’t like to hear of people getting hurt but for someone who had so much experience as she did with world after world of analogs she tried not to let stuff like that get to her. As it stood the Venom’s she had encountered in other worlds often liked to play this kind of game, at least when they had any semblance of self. Sometimes the symbiote took over and made the man/alien mash up more a slobbering monster than a sentient being, however when it did have a mind it liked to try and intimidate or downright scare its intended victims into just giving up.

Blink was not someone who ever just gave up even when things were at their worst.

This accidental trip into a world she had never intended to visit had sealed that for her. Though she had tried to quit, to run away from her problems and her pain she had ended up paying for it dearly. If she was destined to live out the rest of her life on a world foreign to her in the extreme she was damn well going to live and not let a black slime monster with teeth to intimidate or eat her. “Consider me Nightcrawler+ if it makes it easier for that whacked out double mind of yours to contemplate.” She hissed in response as her body moved almost as fluidly as Venom’s own symbiote from one point in the air and then into another through a pink portal.

“As for taste… well I’m told I taste like bubble gum and moon beams but you aint ever gonna get the chance to see if that’s true ugly.” She smirked as her kick connected with the back of the head only to suddenly feel the tar like liquid feeling of the symbiotes tendril wrap around her ankle. “Crap…” She growled to herself flatly for the stupid mistake of not drawing on experience to predict this outcome to her attack. She was better than this and she knew it, she had become over confident however in seeing a challenge she was certain she could take without breaking a sweat. The downside of having so much experience was sometimes one thought they could think their way out of any situation, forgetting that every fight between super-powered beings was different. What would Mr. Creed have said to her seeing this kind of mistake? Probably not too much because if he had been there he would have already ripped Venom to pieces. She didn’t have Creed’s aggression or bestial strength though she had been raised and taught by him to be as vicious a fighter as he or Weapon X… only different. She needed to think, not to get cocky and to strike where it hurt the most. In other words she needed to plan ahead and use all possible advantage.

“Good catch… you should play for the Yankees…” Hanging upside down she stared down at Venom with a cocky smirk belying herself deprecation at being caught up. It would not take much for her to get out of this she figured, easy enough to just open another portal and literally blink away, cutting the tendril in the process, but she had already made the mistake of underestimating the hulking mass of black muscles. She needed to take this mistake under consideration and get some control of the situation back. “Look gruesome… you could eat me…or…” She looked between the maw of yellow teeth and the soulless white eyes then towards the ramp on which the AIM thugs had been offloading their weapons only to see three yellow garbed and masked members of the group to appear with weapons raised. “…you could put me down and taste you some of those sweet sweet sunflowers over there.” She cocked her head in a ‘look over there’ motion an instant before blue bolts of energy began to rain down from the top of the ramp.

Blink wasn't like the rest of Venom's normal victims, he found that the ones with superpowers were harder to terrify than the average thug or criminal. They had more courage and were often more fun to play with. This one even dared to joke around even after being caught in his tar-like second skin. That took most of the fun out of killing her. If she wasn't screaming bloody murder or begging for her life then ending it wasn't as fulfilling.

It certainly wasn't going to stop him from killing her tho, but that was when she pointed out the "sunflowers". Did she think Venom was a fool? There was little time to question her opinion of him or think the matter over when he felt the energy weapons pelting the back of his large body making Venom let out an inhuman screech. Ordinary bullets bounced right off his body but this energy actually hurt him. Enraged, the monster flung Blink aside like a rag doll and charged toward the AIM soldiers with claws ready. Leaping up into the air with his tongue dragging in the wind he was ready to land right on top of the small group of AIM agents and start ripping them to shreds.

"We'll destroy you for that!!!"

Venom wasn't a stupid creature but most of his actions were fueled by pure emotion, his entire existence was brought upon the mutual hatred of Spider-Man and Peter Parker, who was revealed to be one and the same once the symbiote "enlightened" Eddie when they first bonded. That night in the church changed the young man forever and now it was the sweet taste of his deep hatred for the wall-crawler that made him the perfect host for this alien parasite. As such, killing Blink became an afterthought when the rage Venom felt toward the AIM agents spouted in his very core. Oh, how the symbiote savored the tangy bitterness of that rage. It was gorging itself on the equivalent of a four-star meal and the creature had no concept of "self-control" when it came to feeding.

So let your soul dance baby time to free yourself at last unshackle your life spirit fly away far from the past...

Being thrown by someone markedly physically stronger than herself was nothing new for Blink. In her line of work, hell in her whole lifestyle, going toe to toe people with vastly superior physical prowess than herself was just run of the mill. From beings who could bench press cars to those that could level whole city blocks, she had occasion to tangle with all types. When Venom decided that it was time to toss her aside like used up chewing gum and focus his/their attention on the AIM agents Clarice only felt a sense of relief as she twisted her body in midair with gymnastic grace so that as she landed it was in a catlike crouch on the sea slick dock pavement. Safe though scuffed up on her hands and knees she hissed a bit in pain both from the grip the monster had possessed on her and now the cuts and contusions from a well performed if not perfect landing. “Son of a…” She growled with a near feral tone as she looked up to see the black and white creature turn its savagery against those that fire bolts of painful energy at it. If there was anything admirerable about the monster that was Venom it was his agility, the ability to move almost as fluidly as any Spider-Man she had ever met while retaining a ferocity that might nearly have mirrored her mentor Victor Creed. It was in situations like this that it was tempting for her to just stand back and let one badguy kill other badguys, in her world something that morally would not have been a problem but in most others such as this was somewhat less warranted.

That and she had to consider how she would explain the blood and gore to her recently acquired SHIELD friends were she to let Venom have his way.

No… that would be more of a headache than she was willing to put herself through.

“Woh Spunky! You really gotta settle that tude down!” She shouted to Venom an instant before reaching her hands out and focusing her mutant abilities. She had been playing it far too direct with the symbiotic beast up to this point, a mistake she should never have made in the first place. This time she would try to keep him at a distance, at least until she could either talk some sense into him or crack down on this little AIM weapons operation herself.

BLINK!!!!

“Time to cool off!” With a flash of pink light a portal opened underneath Venom and instantly swallowed the mass of black muscles up. A split second after, a literal blink, another portal opened up 20 yards off shore over the cold, black waters of the Hudson river, far enough that the dunk would be well worth it but not so far as it might endanger the symbiote bound humans life. She waited a split second for the far away noise of a splash then turned her attention to the two AIM scientist/thugs aiming their energy weapons at her now. “Well that’s appreciation for ya…”

Venom was to preoccupied with tearing the Aim agents to ribbons to remember that Blink was still there, much less that she could open portals anywhere and at any time she wanted. There was little warning and even lest time to react to the sudden appearence of her pink prtal that carried Venom away. In the flash of energy, a blink of an eye, he was no longer about to kill another agent but was above the chilly waters of the nearby river.

The plunge into the dark, cold, waters did little except for anger hifurther. The "suit" protected him from cold tempretures, too bad it couldn't protect him from extreme heat as well. At least, it didn't protect him from flames. Fire was one of the only 2 things that could cripple or possibly even kill the symbiote.

In the dark water Venom became invisible to the naked eye, blending in likea chameleon as he began swimming back to shore. Blink was going to pay for meddling in his affiars. She'd be damn lucky to live to see another sunrise at this point. the unique nature of the symbiote allowed him to continue blending in with his surroundings as if he were a window, allowing you to see things as if he weren't there but he was merely adapting his color pattern to match things around him to give off the perception of invisibility. He'd use this power tomake his way back up to where Blink was stealthily. Once he got close enough he'd try to plunge his sharp claws right into the woman's chest, maybe rip out her still-beating heart, that would cheer him up.

With Venom taken care of at least for the moment though knowing full well that he would be back and probably in a worse mood she knew she needed to move this operation along a little faster. “I surrender.” She called out quite suddenly, her hands going up into the air as she stood looking to the two AIM scientists who had a clear shot at her. She was taking a gamble but a small one. Sure they might shoot her anyways but they didn’t know her, they didn’t know she didn’t need her hands for her powers. Putting herself in a seemingly vulnerable position might just lower their guard and get her into the warehouse without a fight or at least that’s what she hoped as she stepped towards them very slowly. “You have me dead to rights.” She called out to the two seeing them follow her movements with the barrels of their energy weapons carefully. “I have information. If you let me live, if you let me go it’s yours. I wasn’t paid enough for this shit.” She murmured as convincingly as she could to sound like some kind of mercenary, one that might very well turn on her employer if shown some mercy.

The two aim agents looked to one another just slightly, not truly taking their eyes totally off of the black garbed mutant. “Why are you here?” One spoke through the yellow helmet that obscured his face, the voice digitized so as not to come out sounding distinctly human or traceable. “I was contracted by competitors of yours… Beyond that I aint saying nothing to a pair of gun toting security guards.” She sneered, her voice harsh and insulting to come off as off the cuff, unofficial, criminal as possible. She knew for a fact that all AIM agents, those that work the yellow anyways, were actual scientists, many geniuses or at least of higher IQ intelligence. Event these two relegated to guard duty were scientists of some kind only probably at the bottom of the barrel so to speak to be given such a menial task. In her head she was counting off the time as the two looked towards one another again then seemed to stand straighter, their attentions distance as she assumed they were contacting someone on the inside with internal communications within their suits. “I’m on the clock boys.” She mouthed off looking over her shoulder to the waters knowing full well that the creature from the black lagoon would be making his comeback any minute. She needed to get on the inside to not only put an end to this weapons/technology smuggling operation but get a crack at the AIM mainframe for SHIELD.

“This way… our project leader wants some questions answered.” One of the men finally spoke and motioned to the doors with his gun. Blink gave off an inaudible sigh of relief, looking over her shoulder one more time to the waters of the Hudson before moving inside with the gun totting AIM agents at either side of her. “Sneaky little set up you got here.” She spoke to the mute men in their full yellow uniforms on either side of her. “All this weaponry and equipment… something big is going down soon aint it?” She continued to talk, a little disarming tactic she picked up from various run ins with the likes of Deadpool, while looking all about her in the large loading area where other AIM agents and a few men in other uniforms, obviously hired help, were crating and uncrating various stockpiles of weapons and technology. Yup, something big was going to happen but she needed to know more, needed to see more so she needed to keep up this act for a bit longer and hope that when the big black goo monster did make his reappearance he would be enough of a distraction to allow her to get the data SHIELD wanted.

Venom was just a few moments too late to slaughter the girl before they led her inside. Did she think that surrounding herself with armed AIM agents was going to save her pathetic life? She best think again, Venom had chumps like those for breakfast. She was playing at some sort of game and Venom wanted to know what it was. She had mentioned something about learning what AIM was up to and the bigger picture. Guess she was determined to learn what it was.

Well, he certainly wasn't going to walk through the same door she did, he'd have to kill the guards and break the door down to do so. Not that he was afraid to do it, but since she was going through all this trouble now it made Eddie curious, he wanted to see for himself what was going on while the symbiote just wanted everyone dead. Luckily, this was one of those moments when Eddie was in control despite being so enraged not long ago.

Stealthily he climbed up the side of the building and up to the roof, he used an open skylight to sneak inside when nobody was looking. Even if they had looked, Venom blended his color to match the ceiling to conceal his entry. Crawling along the ceiling like a big tarantula, he kept tabs on the girl and the agents she was with. All this fuss had better pay off, it better be worth his time and aggravation or else he'd really be pissed. Not that it was going to spare them from death either way.

Strike now Eddie, now!

No! we wait....I want to see what the girl is up to

We kill the girl then?

Yes, once we find out more, then we kill her.

Eddie and the symbiote had a little chat within their shared mind. It was bad enough having a voice head but it was even worse when he started having long conversations with it. Now, that voice was his one and only confidant, the only one he believed was there for him, who loved him, who'd always be there for him. Everyone else from Brock's old life was gone in one way or another.

So let your soul dance baby time to free yourself at last unshackle your life spirit fly away far from the past...

As she was led in to the AIM facility Blink she let her glowing green eyes devoid of pupils scan the room as much as she dared without being overtly obvious. She watched as the scientists and their paid lackeys worked continuously at unpacking and repacking various pieces of technology and caches of weapons. Only once did she dare to look over her shoulder for a quick glance at the door they had come through as she tried to estimate how long it would take Venom to swim his way back to shore and potentially crash the ‘party’ as it were. “So boys, who the hell was that freaky black mound of muscles and teeth and why was he attacking your men?” She questioned in an even and controlled yet quizzical tone. She needed to make it as clear as possible that she had nothing to do with Vemon and his attack if she was going to have any chance at stalling for time to gather the data she needed. “I mean that thing was big and bad… haven’t come across something that vicious in a while. Then again there was this one time in Nepal where…” She kept talking until one of the AIM agents to her right thrust the butt of his weapon sharply into her ribs. “Shut your mouth until our Operation Leader speaks with you. Your inane prattle is getting quite tiresome.” The electronic voice of the man who had hit her sounded mechanical yet the words made it clear that the man inside the yellow suit was or at least considered himself educated and cultured. Yup, AIM in this world was just like in most others, a bunch of scientists playing at trying to take over the world for its own good. Despite the pain shooting through her side now she was glad to see things didn’t change much from what she expected. “Sure… no prob…” She hissed with pain seeing clearly why people didn’t like Deadpool and how effective his own non-stop chatter worked in situations like this.

Moving along with a slightly exaggerated limp to make it seem like she was more hurt than she actually was Blink was brought to an enclosed office where under normal circumstances the foreman of the loading dock would be working out of. In this case she saw a tall man in a containment suit similar to the other AIM agents standing with his arms crossed behind his back looking out at the work being done. What set this man apart from the others was a gaudy looking yellow cape down his back and a helmet that was much bigger than the rest which made him look like he had a bigger brain, probably the effect he wanted to give off to his men. “Why are you here mutant?” The man’s voice like all the others was digitized but in this leaders case it was a deeper more menacing tone much like one would hear from Darth Vader in the Star Wars movies. “I am told you were ‘contracted’ but you are willing to divulge your secrets in exchange for your life. I find that very convenient.” The leader turned and looked Blink over with mechanical eye pieces within his helmet zooming audibly across her black leather garbed form. “Take a picture it lasts longer…” She grunted only to feel the butt of a weapon crash into the top of her back and force her to her knees. As she reeled from the sudden throbbing of pain along her neck and shoulders she silently noted that Solaris and Coulson had better appreciate what she was putting herself through for SHIELD and the data they wanted. “Fine… Yes… I was contracted to watch and relay any information on any pertinent pieces of information you may or may not be smuggling into the country.” She somewhat lied as she knelt in front of the AIM leader, a glare of real anger shooting up to the man. “My employers don’t like it when others muscle in on the arms dealing trade here on the east coast.” She growled and slowly pulled herself up to her feet despite not being given leave to. One of the guards to either side of her was about to hit her again with his weapon but the leader raised a hand at the last moment to order him off. “Who are your employers and how much did they pay you for your services.” The deep baritone took on a keenly inquisitive tone as he turned once more to look out at the floor where the work continued unabated for the moment. “Let’s just say they are business men of high standing and they gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse.” She answered cryptically though dropping clear hints that her make believe employers were likely to be connected to organized crime. “And what of the creature that my men encountered outside. The one that you seemed to make disappear?” Yeah… about that… Blink wondered just where Venom was now. She had hoped he would make his appearance soon and cause enough of a distraction that she could get to the hard part of this whole assignment. Though he had not been part of the plans she had put in place for this little raid originally he had come as a sort of an un/pleasant surprise. He would be useful if she could keep him from ripping people to pieces and maybe even focus his dual minds into helping her. “I don’t know anything about that. I was on the job when he came down out of nowhere and started to rip your hired help to pieces. I figured if I was going to learn anything about what was going on here for my bosses I needed to remove him from the equation. Didn’t work out so well for me though with Ren and Stimpy here and their guns.” She growled looking to the two men who had brought her in.

Venom continued to watch despite the symbiote continuously trying to fight Eddie's decision to observe the mutant girl and the AIM agents. It seemed despite their high intellects, these AIM agents were completely oblivious that Venom was still lingering in the building. They had assumed Blink made Venom vanish which meant their guard was lowered, especially with Blink captured, or at least seemingly so. If Venom was one to give praise he might have to give some to Blink for her clever deceit.

As he listened and learned about the arms deals that were going all over the eastern coast, Venom wondered if he would be able to take each group out solo. There was no telling how many "cells" of AIM agents there were, how many ports were infested with these dirty criminals. Up till now Venom had only concerned himself with "protecting" New York city but there was a whole big bad world out there full of guilty filth just like the men in the yellow uniforms below him.

The more he thought about it the angrier he got and the angrier he got the harder it was for Eddie to keep both hands on the wheel, so to speak. It was only a matter of time before the symbiote grabbed hold and put the pedal to the metal. NO! He had to hold on a bit longer....had to find out more.....but the urge to slaughter the guilty was growing. Eddie did his best but in the end he was only a weak pathetic human, the symbiote was quick to remind him how easily Spider-Man had ruined his life and that without it, Eddie was nothing.

That's when the screaming began once more as one of the agents who was standing beside Blink to keep her in check was suddenly yanked from the ground by an invisible tendril. Only when he was seconds away from death did Venom reveal himself hanging upside down on the ceiling, jaws open wide, the sound of the agent gurgling on his own blood and the sound of bone being crunched up. The body dropped back to the floor a moment later as the black creature grinned above the others, blood dripping from his fangs.

So let your soul dance baby time to free yourself at last unshackle your life spirit fly away far from the past...

Well that had worked for a good 10 minutes… that was something… or so Blink tried to convince herself. She refused to let this get her down, to accept that the whole idea of luring Venom into this fracas as a distraction was a good idea gone completely south of the outhouse hole. Now don’t take this the wrong way… Blink had literally very few if any qualms at all about letting the AIM scientists and their hired goods meet out their just deserts at the hands of a psychotic human alien hybrid cannibal. The thought was actually appealing and brought those old school Age of Apocalypse warm fuzzies when the rules were a little more lax on the whole justice vs survival concept. However the same circumstances that made killing your enemy acceptable in her world could not be said the same for here. This wasn’t exactly a war, not yet anyways. Few people knew that Blink was indeed a catholic and she believed the word of God and his bible in many ways. Though not a completely devout Christian in the sense of perfect faith she did feel that many of her faiths teachings, tenants and wisdoms had helped her throughout the years. She didn’t tout or flaunt her religious beliefs but they had been at least one aspect of helping her cope and succeed with every strange and bizarre adventure she had gone through so far as an X-Man or Exile. To let the AIM goons die without just cause would be a sin in and of itself. She could handle that. She believed in the divine but she did not have a problem with letting her hands get dirty either. One did not get raised by the likes of Sabretooth or live through a literal hell like the Age of Apocalypse and come out squeamish about killing when it was needed.

Was it needed in this instance though?

Looking up towards the shadows where the drooling beast made its presence known once again, then towards the last remaining guard and the AIM commander she sighed in frustration. “Couldn’t give me ten more minutes huh?” She snipped at Venom with an annoyed tone as she ducked and dodged the low hanging tendrils of his costume with perfectly trained gymnastic skill. Into her right hand she focused her mutant abilities, fashioning from pure teleportation energy a long crystal blade, sharp and strong and in the left a smaller crystal, a foot long which she plunged into the AIM commanders chest a millisecond before he could draw his weapon. “You’ll thank me for this someday…” She hissed through her teeth as she stared into the mechanical eyes of his helmet in one instant and then in the next watched him vanish in a burst of pink light. She had to keep herself sharp, she was in the lions den now and the commotion that was starting to brew below in the main docking area was a clear sign that people were becoming aware something wasn’t kosher. “Hey… You with it up there? Ready to talk or are you still jonesing to get your munch on?” She questioned, gripping the crystal blade in her hand at the ready if she needed it. “Look at it this way if you even understand English at this point. Those guys out there are the bad guys. They have lots of weapons, probably several that can even fry your squishy black and white friend. You think you can take them all alone?” She would let Venom chew on that one a moment while she moved quickly to the commander’s desk and looked for the main dataport to his personal computer. She had come with a purpose and that was still to get everything she could about AIM’s arms and tech smuggling along the east coast for SHEILD. Pulling out a small thumb drive provided by SHIELD Blink knew all she needed to do was insert the small device into the system and the files would instantly be accessible by her allies. That meant only having to hold off AIM for as long as it would take the uplink to take effect, if she could do that without having to tangle with tall dark and gruesome on the ceiling as well all the better.

Venom simply stared at the purple-skinned woman with unblinking, soul-less white eyes. The alien/human hybrid had quite the mean-streak and a temper but he wasn't stupid. Tearing a few AIM agents limb from limb was just the thing he needed to scratch his bloodthirsty itch. She may have spared an agent or two using her unusual teleporting powers but she couldn't save them all. Black tendrils shot out from Venom's shoulders to snag another yellow jumpsuit-wearing agent as he opened fire on the black beast. They would reel in their catch very quickly causing him to lose his mask, a poor little helpless fish on a hook, and once he was in range Venom's large hand would grab the agent's face and with a squeeze, he crushed the man's skull.

Turning his attention back to Blink he gave her another look over as she was doing her job, pulling out the thumb drive to try and hack AIM's computer files, or so he assumed. It was certainly something Venom did not concern himself with, maybe that was a problem. Maybe Blink's methods were better than his own? Those doubts stayed in his shared mind for only a fleeting moment before the symbiote reminded him of his purpose.

Don't let the pink-skinned woman cloud your mind. We are the lethal protector not some detective.

But....

No buts! WE must destroy the guilty, let the woman do things her way. We play along, find the guilty and wipe them out and then wipe her out as well.

The internal dialogue went on without Blink so much as noticing, the monstrous creature killed any agent that came its way. What it didn't count on was the two AIM agents wielding flamethrowers. An inhuman shriek could be heard a split second after the weapons unleashed a torrent of flames in his direction. In the sense of self-preservation, Venom left Blink to fend for herself as it desperately tried to escape but the flames cut off his escape route. He had tried to climb through the open skylight but the AIM agents were no fools and blasted in that direction before he could reach it. Falling back toward the ground the alien tried to fight back but the flames were deadly even to its awesome power.

AIM was relentless as it poured on the flames, trapping Venom in a corner. The intense heat was enough to cook Eddie alive inside the living suit. The threat was severe enough to force the alien parasite to retreat back inside of Eddie, leaving the human male nude and vulnerable. From there they could incapacitate the human with a powerful stun gun. That was when Eddie was swallowed up in the blackness, slipping away into an unconscious state and being taken prisoner by AIM.

The two flamethrower wielding men then turned their attention to Blink, not caring about damaging the computer or anything else for that matter and unleashed the dual stream of flames in her direction. If they were lucky they could snag her as well.
