Several months had gone by since the attack on the school, and Abby's life had shifted into a new normal living out of the hidden lab Cho had made. She still had no idea how he'd made it, either. Normally, school would have started up again a good two or three weeks ago. But this wasn't the usual life, having to live in hiding from the government. She yawned widely as the lift doors opened into the lab, and she made her way into the room Cho was usually in. Full of computers and other technology that mystified her.

"Hey, I'm back," she said, entering the room and spying the little genius at his computers. That was not a surprise at all. In one hand she held a book she'd picked up at the store on the way home. "Here, you said you wanted this one, right?" She put the book next to the keyboard and leaned back against an empty spot on the next desk, eyes falling on the monitors but not really seeing anything that was on them. In just a week, she was turning sixteen. But it didn't seem like something worth bringing up with everything else that was going on. The Xavier Institute was abandoned, as were all other known metahuman team hideouts, so the news reports had said.

"Have you found anything?" she asked him after a moment. She'd asked him to try to track down her other sister, Alexandra. If anyone could do it, Cho could. She trusted him, after having Baymax save not only her life but Madi's too. Of course, asking if he'd found anything could mean more than just her sister. He often had news on new reports that she'd missed while she was out. She just couldn't sit around all day, even if her adoptive father had wanted her to. After the trouble with the Sentinels recognizing her powers, he was right though. It was safer for her to stay inside. But she just couldn't.

Amadeus was actually loving having the others keeping him company in the Champions HQ. It was all thanks to Hank Pym who acquired the building through his company Pym Tech, moved it around to some shell companies just to throw off the trail and donated the facility to Amadeus to use for his team. Pym felt Cho was a brilliant mind, he reminded him of himself at that age. He was basically the son he wished he had which irked Scott Lang a bit but that was beside the point.

After he heard of Amadeus' plan for a team to help people while the adults were all busy fighting themselves during the Civil War, Hank was more than happy to help. It was all kept off the books for legal reasons but other than that any assistance or funding Pym could give was theirs. Cho just decided to keep their mysterious benefactor a secret from the other Champions for now.

For now he was enjoying having Madi and Abby around, dare he say they were his two closest friends, well, his only friends. Even Cyclops and Johnny were starting to grow on him once they learned to get along, sorta. Really it was just nice to have people his own age to talk to, share meals with, spend time together. It meant allot to him even if he didn't say so. and when Abigail came to him with her favor, asking him to find the third sister for her, he was more than happy to help.

"Welcome home Abb's...."

He spouted the nickname as if he used it a thousand times before when it was actually the very first time as he chewed his Twix bar. Around his feet laid the wrappers of many fallen candy bar brethren that Cho had been snacking on all afternoon.

"Ohh! My Leonardo DaVinci book, thanks dude."

He said delightedly at the sight of the book, he'd been looking forward to reading it for a while now and certainly appreciated that she risked blowing her cover just to go fetch it for him.

"Check it, my brain has been working overtime all day. I started with the orphanage you triplets were sent to obviously. Hacked their mainframe, coulda done it with my eyes closed. Found the adoption papers for all three of ya. Now here's where it got interesting."

Amadeus had that glint in his eye, the one he always got when he was showing off his superior intellect to others to impress them.

"She got adopted by a Mr. and Mrs. Rooney but like you, didn't stay put for long. Got transferred to another orphanage, caseworker ended up shipping her out to a family in California, but that was 5 years ago and the trail went cold. Odds are your sister is out west somewhere. You up for a road trip?"

His use of the nickname that before only her sisters had called her caused Abby to falter for a moment, startled. But she recovered quickly, though when he mentioned the orphanage she blinked in surprise.

"I'd forgotten about the orphanage..." she admitted. They'd only been there for a single night before being sent to different foster homes, and there had been a lot more on her mind at the time than where they slept. He explained what he'd found, and she shook her head. "That can't be right. They wouldn't have sent her back if it was an official adoption with all the paperwork," she said softly. "I mean, technically adoptions can get reversed, but... usually us unwanted kids get fost-adopted without real plans." She had grouped herself as one of the unwanted kids for so long, it was a hard habit to break even almost a year later. But her being shipped to California was strange. Maybe she'd been adopted out there. "I assume you have the address," she said, pushing herself off the desk and making for the door. "And we better not be flying all the way to California in that freaking food truck. It stands out too much." She pulled the hair band out and let her blonde locks hang free for a moment before retying it into a low ponytail at the base of her skull. "Let me change first." She walked out of the monitor room and through the base to her room. She'd managed to get some clothes and things, not quite as nice as what she'd left behind at the Institute, but they were things to change into.

She closed the door to her room and changed into a pair of jeans and a simple black t-shirt, then refixed her hair again into a high ponytail that she slipped through the hole in the back of a cap she pulled on. She also grabbed a jacket on her way back out the door, making her way through the base once again to meet Cho.

"Let's get going," she said to him. Hopefully he was a decent driver.

"Well, either she got her adoption reversed or something fishy was going on. My money is on the fish."

Cho didn't know how it felt to be a true orphan like Abigail, to be sent to some strange facility with a bunch of other kids who had no place else to go, no family to love them. After his home was blown to kingdom come Amadeus took whatever he had with him and hit the road. It wasn't much, just whatever was in his backpack that afternoon. everything else was destroyed in the fire. He didn't want to deal with the police and reporters, they were stupid enough to believe it was a gas leak that killed his family and destroyed his home but Cho knew better. So he hit the road and never looked back, not long after that he joined SHIELD and had been living on his own ever since.

"Natch! I wouldn't be the Mastermind Excello if I couldn't find a simple address."

He said with a grin as he flaunted the printed out information to Abigail. It read: 1040 N. Las Palmas Avenue, Santa Luego, California.

"Hey, hey, don't hate on the Meat Wagon. It's the best way to get around and have great Korean BBQ. I told you I was gonna finish installing the cloaking device I "borrowed" from SHIELD so now at least we won't be spotted flying around. Besides, the only other options are to ride on Baymax's back or hop on a plane. I mean we could drive all the way out there if you're in the mood for a long road trip."

Amadeus shrugged, he had nothing but time on his hands so he didn't care how long it would take them to get from New York to California. Since this was all about Abby finding her sister it was up to her what means of travel they took and it was obvious the Meat Wagon or Baymax were the fastest options, the food truck being a more comfy ride.

"Why do girls always need a change of wardrobe before going anywhere?"

Cho asked once she came back out of her room, not caring that his signature green army jacket hadn't been washed in a few days and sported a mustard stain from the double cheesburger he ate the night before. The Meat Wagon was fueled up and ready to go, Amadeus simply grabbed his laptop and universal tool, stuffing them both into his messenger bag that was slung over his shoulder.

Abby had wondered, more than once, what her life, and her sisters' lives, would have been like if she'd simply taken them and left, that one night in the orphanage. Maybe they'd still be together, and she wouldn't have needed to ask Cho to hunt for Alex. Or maybe she would have started using her powers against normal people sooner, and just ended up in some facility for underage metas. With her sisters. Maybe it could have been better, but there were many ways it could have been much worse.

She had decided to forego anything that would be considered recognizable, which was the main reason she had changed. Plenty of people in California wearing jeans and t-shirts. The only remarkable thing she had on her now was the pendant in her jacket pocket, a memento from her mother. It was the one thing she'd been unwilling to leave behind once she had recovered enough to be up and about. She'd convinced Scott to go back to the Institute for it, though she hadn't seen much of him since. And it did worry her, slightly. Both of them were wanted mutants, after all. Her for being unregistered, and for the mess they called the Crystal Muggings almost a year ago, and him for standing against the military to protect the school.

Cho was right on one point, at least. The poorly-named food truck was the more comfortable of their options. Driving that far was too risky, borders were likely being checked for the unregistered metas, as well as members of the X-Men and Avengers. Getting a plane ticket wouldn't work either because that left a trail. So their only real options were the food truck or Baymax. And the truck was definitely the more comfortable of the two. She sighed, slipping her arms into the sleeves of her jacket. "Fine, we'll take the food truck," she reluctantly agreed. "But I request a name change. If we're going to really be our own team, our vehicle needs a better name." With that, she slipped into the passenger seat and buckled up. It was up to Cho to get them to California, since she couldn't drive yet. Hadn't even started learning, since everything after her adoption had been more than a little chaotic.

"If you wanna call a team meeting over the name of my truck then so be it, tho it seems like a waste of time."

Amadeus groaned slightly, for a girl who could not comprehend the genius that went into the truck itself which allowed the vehicle to fly and become invisible to the naked eye she sure had a strong opinion to the name. He built the damn thing so of course, he had the right to name it whatever he likes, Abby was just being a brat.

He wasn't about to argue with her now especially with the long trip ahead. He left a message behind for the others before loading Baymax's and his own armor into the truck. The tricky part was stuffing the inflated body of his robotic companion/nurse into the standard opening that acted as the side door. Wasting a few minutes of shoving against the balloon-like robot until he finally popped into the back of the truck, how embarrassing.

The Mastermind slipped into the driver's seat and started the engine, once it began to give off the familiar rumble he ignited the anti-gravity device. The truck lifted a few feet off the ground with intense force as all 4 of the tires tilted horizontally much like Phil Coulson's precious Lola. Once they were hovering off the ground he remotely opened the hangar door which led to an abandoned subway tunnel and with a rev of the gas pedal they were off.

"Who knows, maybe while we're in Cali we'll find a new Champion or two? That'd be awesome."

Cho smirked as they traveled 60 mph down the dark tunnel with the front headlights illuminating their path. They were running short of track as it were after about 15 minutes which is when Cho triggered the cloaking device which used reflective panels to make the truck invisible just before they exited the tunnel into open space. Pulling back on a lever allowed him to gain altitude so they can reach near-airplane-like heights.

"She isn't as tricked out as a Quinjet but my baby will get us there in no time. Plus we have plenty of food and a working grill. Hungry?"

Of course Abby recognized his ability, since he'd basically taken a regular food truck and turned it into a super-kids transport vehicle. She just didn't want to say it. It was the same edge she'd gotten so used to holding in order to keep other people at a distance, to keep herself from getting hurt again. Scott she could be herself around, but she didn't know Cho near as well. Around him, her guard was still up. She watched silently as Cho tried(and failed) to get Baymax in through one of the person-sized doors in the back, giving him a look that said exactly what she thought about him not remembering the big door at the back of the truck. This was his truck, how could he forget that it had a door like that?

Cho got in and started the truck, then began to drive it down the tunnel. "Alex is a telepath," she said, having kept that information to herself when she asked Cho to track her down. "Maybe she'll be willing to come with us. I mean, if she'd been adopted again there'd be paperwork to prove it." Or so she said. But something just didn't feel right. A strange feeling settled in the pit of her stomach, almost but not quite like dread. Alex was the one with psychic powers, but that didn't mean Abby had none at all. The three of them shared that weird connection identical twins often had, except that they had three instead of two. At least, she liked to believe they had that connection. That she'd know if something had happened to Alex.

"Is the Quinjet like SHIELD's version of the X-jet?" she asked. She'd never flown in the X-jet, but she had wound up on the Velocity by accident once. Despite her curiosity, she was still guarded. Baymax may have saved her life, and Cho was giving her shelter while the whole mess blew over, but that didn't mean she had to trust him with her personal details. She'd done enough of that already, he didn't need to know more.

"Having a telepath on the team would be a great asset even if it meant having two of you under my roof. I just hope she's cooler than her sister."

Amadeus gave Abby the kind of smirk one would expect to see on the recess yard when children who get along tease each other for fun. The kind of teasing that wasn't meant to insult or hurt someone's feelings, it was just easier to say something "rude" instead of an honest compliment to reflect how they really care for the other person. As smart as he may be Cho could still be an immature teenager around others his own age.

"Pretty much, I never got to fly in your X-Jet but from what I've heard it's pretty impressive."

He wasn't a pilot or anything but a sleek, impressive piece of machinery especially advanced tech was enough to fascinate Cho to no end and spark his imagination on how to adapt the tech to his own tools and equipment as well as improving upon the design. It was that train of thought combined with his scientific genius that made him the prime candidate for rebuilding and improving the Zephyr One for SHIELD under Coulson's orders.

By pressing the right controls he was able to engage the autopilot so that the truck can cruise through the wild blue yonder, high above the problems they left below. Turning his chair around he hopped out of his seat and headed to the back where Baymax was busy cooking up some roast pork egg rolls. His mother may have written the programming for over 10,000 medical procedures but Cho was the one who wrote both his martial arts programming and added a culinary program. A boy's got to eat and Cho, in particular, was kind of like a black hole when it came to food, sucking up any food that he could especially sweets.

"Oh man, those smell incredible..."

"The egg rolls shall be ready in exactly 5 minutes 26 seconds."

"Hey Abs, you want some?"

Amadeus asked his blonde companion as he felt his mouth water at the smell of the egg rolls crisping up and cooking inside the hot oil.

"Honestly, I wouldn't know," she admitted awkwardly. "I mean, last time we saw each other, we were still in elementary school." He knew this, of course. She'd told him about being separated, though she hadn't given him details about anything. Despite the seatbelt, she still put her heels on the seat and wrapped her arms around her knees. "Back then, Alex was the most book-smart out of the three of us. I spent a lot of time in our elementary school's sports clubs." She cut herself off again, falling silent as she rested her chin on her knees, watching the world soar by below them. She didn't mean to talk so much, but sometimes it just happened. She hadn't even talked to Scott much about her sisters, other than that rather embarrassing first day when she had basically demanded help finding them both.

"I never got to fly it either," she said with a laugh. "Though I did get to try the simulator once, a few months before that whole mess. Crashed pretty hard." It was still a bit embarrassing when it got brought up, but she'd explained it by saying that her powers made her less inclined toward things that required finesse. With the exception of gardening, which was sort of an escape for her. Maybe she'd ask Cho to drop by a gardening store on the way home so she could pick up some things to put in her room back at the base.

When Cho unbuckled, Abby did the same, also spinning her chair around but staying seated. "No thanks. Not much for egg rolls," she admitted. But she was starting to get a little hungry. "Can he make fries?" Good fries were one of her favorite snacks, and she had a feeling that Cho had picked out a good recipe when he programed Baymax's culinary card... or whatever it was. That much, at least, she could appreciate openly. She lowered her feet to the floor, but decided to stay put despite Cho wandering about. This might have been his creation, but she wasn't as comfortable in the air as he appeared to be.

The fluffy-looking white robot was able to perfectly time the cooking of the egg rolls given the size and temperature of the oil. A small ding came from inside Baymax's head before he withdrew the square metal cage from the hot oil to place the cooked egg rolls aside to cool. Hearing her request, he began peeling and slicing potatoes with a dash of spices to make her french fries.

"She's smart huh? Then we'll probably get along great."

Cho smirked a bit trying to picture Abby but with glasses with a stack of thick leatherbound books beside her, someone who he could have an intelligent conversation with. The whole daydream really did appeal to him since the number of people his age with high IQ's were slim to none.

"Your snack foods are ready."

The robotic companion announced as it used clean robotic hands to place the fresh, warm fried foods into fast-food style baskets with wax paper with just a hint of salt for flavor. Cho grabbed both baskets, one in each hand before walking back to his pilot's seat and offering the fries to his female companion.

"Y'know......I had a pretty cool sister. She was actually almost as smart as me. We used to compete scientifically since we were in diapers but at the end of the day she was my best friend."

Despite the munching of his egg rolls his tone had noticeably shifted from a more chipper tone to a more bittersweet one. He hadn't talked about his sister since meeting his new friends. Perhaps all these months under the same roof had inspired him to open up a bit.

She hadn't actually expected him to be able to make them, so when Baymax began peeling and cutting potatoes to make fries, she simply blinked in surprise, then gave a small smile when he passed her the basket. "Nice work, brainiac," she said to Cho before taking a bite. "But don't think that just because she's smart means she'd be willing to put up with your crap all the time. Alex was always smart, but you're unnaturally smart." Maybe he didn't have the X-gene, but there were others with powers that weren't mutants. Maybe there was something else. Or, maybe he was just that odd one-in-a-million person who was a natural-born genius with no meta-relations at all.

She listened silently while he spoke about his own sister, munching on the fries. Yeah, her sisters were her best friends too. But something else had been bugging her, too. Baymax would've had to scan her to be able to treat her after the battle. Which meant he would've noticed that her bones were crystalizing. And she hadn't told Cho anything about it before. She paused with half a fry in her hand, unsure of whether she wanted to broach that topic yet. It was a sensitive subject to her, the fact that her powers might one day be the very thing that killed her.

She popped the rest of the fry in her mouth and forced herself to focus on their conversation. "I was more into the athletics clubs, and Alex was the studious one. Ashlynn... Oh, did I tell you she got adopted by a family in the city? She showed up at the Institute months ago, just out of nowhere. I didn't get to see her before the attack, though... Her powers aren't obvious, though, so I think she's alright." In fact, she hadn't even texted Ashlynn since the attack on the Institute. Her phone had been one of the things left behind in the chaos, and she hadn't bothered going back for it. Cho had already made her a new communicator, one that looked more like Madi's. Hopefully Ash was alright.

"Unnaturally smart....I think that's the nicest thing you've called me in a while." Cho said with a sassy tone, a smirk painted on his lips. It was the same kind of verbal sparring he used to do with Maddy, not the blind one, his younger sister. Maybe that explained why his relationship with Abby felt familiar? It was odd but nice, he enjoyed hanging out with her and just talking even if it seemed like they were usually bickering. It was a good kind of bickering, she was his friend and in the end, he was always happy to do whatever it took to help her. Otherwise, they wouldn't be in a flying food truck halfway across the country right now.

It didn't take long for Amadeus to scarf down his food, requesting Baymax to make seconds and most likely thirds. For such a skinny kid he could put food away like there was a black hole in his stomach, maybe there was?

"It must've slipped your mind to mention the other sister, I'm glad Ashlynn found a family too. I hope she's happy with them. Is she a mutant like you? Does she have the same powers? Do you think Alex has powers too?" His questions came one after another as his mind raced at the possibilities. Human biology or rather mutations were kind of fascinating to him at the moment. Three sisters who look identical, at least 2 born with an X-gene and yet they ended up with different power sets? So then what determines what power a mutant gets? Is it a random luck of the draw? Is it linked to their genetics? Maybe it has to do with their environment? So many questions he'd like to solve but it would possibly take years to completely solve the mystery of mutation.

"Ashlynn can... see stuff," she said vaguely. "I've never really understood it, but that's probably cause she doesn't care to understand her own powers. She called them... auras?" She wasn't bothered anymore by how fast Cho ate, it was just another thing that made him who he was. "Alex and I had no choice but to learn to control our powers. Ashlynn never bothered." There was a hint of distaste in her tone. She didn't agree with her sister's decision to not learn what her powers could do. And she wouldn't say it, but she had been jealous of her sister's powers too. Alex and Abby both had abilities that could prove lethal, if left untrained. But Ashlynn? She could help so many people with her non-lethal abilities if only she tried. She would have done anything to have a power that wasn't by nature dangerous to other people.

"Do I think... I just told you Alex is a telepath," she reminded Cho with an upraised eyebrow. "And yeah, we're mutants. Apparently we're all actually related to the Professor, too." She threw it out as an offhanded comment, but it still bothered her. If they were related, and it was in their file that they were related to him, why hadn't CPS called him first? Any living relative should have been called before they went into foster care. Was that another spot where their social workers had failed? Because she strongly doubted that Charles Xavier would have turned anyone away. He didn't seem like the kind of person who would turn away someone that needed help. "Turns out our birth dad was Professor Xavier's cousin or something. No wonder the three of us ended up mutants." Another fry tossed into her mouth, and she glanced out the window at the clouds. She still didn't think being related mattered that much, but legally he was now her grandfather too. She still hadn't known what to call him, so she stuck with Professor. That was safe.

"How long before we get to California?" she asked suddenly.

"Aura vision, that's a new one. Well, when we get back we need to invite her over to the base."

The Champions were a small team and if he had to think of an analogy he would compare the team to a newborn fawn who was still incapable of walking properly. Not that he thought of himself or his friends as weak or helpless, but they had yet to really work together as a team not to mention it was just the three of them plus Baymax. It wasn't like he was an expert on teamwork or even socializing with others his own age. The only reason why he managed with Abby and Madi was because they were unusual teens with problems and powers nobody else could really understand. Hopefully the time they spent under one roof helped them in some way.

"I spaced, obviously I need more chocolate."

Cho put the egg rolls away and opened up a cupboard filled with all types of candy. He began taking bags of Skittles and fun-sized Hershey bars to line them on the inside of his green army jacket, once he was fully stocked he took out an additional bar of chocolate, unwrapped it quickly and began eating it like a pregnant woman with a food craving. Without sugar, his big brain didn't function properly and without his brain, he was just an average Asian-American teenager.

"We should be landing any moment according to my calculations."

Aside from the slight memory lapse he acted as if nothing happened and sat back down in his pilot's chair with the bar of chocolate gripped firmly between his teeth. He took the Meat Wagon out of autopilot and sure enough they were 5 minutes away from the city.

"Strap in dudes, we're commin in for a landing."

Cho activated the controls, finding a mostly deserted parking lot with no witnesses. From there he could activate the VTOL tech which brought them in for a smooth landing right in the center of a parking spot. soon after he de-cloaked the truck to make it visible to the average person once again.

"1040 N. Las Palmas Avenue, Santa Luego, California. It's right around the corner from here. You ready to investigate?"

The teen asked with a slight smirk as he grabbed his worn-down messenger bag and slung it over his left shoulder as he headed out of the truck and waited for Abby. For now his robo-nanny could remain behind and guard the Meat Wagon, having him walking around would only draw more attention.
